A Message from the Band Director
Dear REU Students and Families,
I want to thank all of you for your patience in regards to band camp and marching season. We were waiting to hear from the FSUSD school board on their decision for which phase we will be starting our school year. It has been decided that we will be starting our school year with Phase 1 at 100% distance learning. This means we will not be allowed to host our annual band camp July 30, 31 and August 3rd - 14th, as well as not having a Fall marching season. The plan at this time is to move all competitions and marching programs to the Winter and the Spring. At this time, if you are enrolled in Symphonic Band, Advanced Symphonic Band, or Pageantry Dance, we will still have classes through distance learning. My understanding is in September / October FSUSD will reassess moving past Phase 1 and hopefully start moving students back to on campus learning! I will be working closely with our administration and the different circuits our amazing music program participates in, including NCBA (Northern California Band Directors Association) NC-PA (Northern California Percussion Alliance) and CCGC (California Color Guard Circuit).
Our goal is to establish a full and enriching year of comradery, team building and becoming a better musician and performer within our competition seasons throughout the school year. Once I receive direction from my administrative team, we will work out the details on instrument and equipment distribution as well as being fitted for uniforms. We will also work on a rehearsal schedule to meet the needs of our different disciplines. Again, this will not be done until it is safe to do so for our students and staff. The best way to stay updated is to receive alerts to your phone from Remind 101 and via email. For details on how to sign up, please visit our website at http://www.rhseu.org. I look forward to working with you and your student this coming year.
